We built it because the best things near you are usually the hardest to find — the farm shop with no website, the honesty box down the lane, the maker who only posts on a Facebook page nobody sees.
Why we built it
Small producers and independent businesses are often the last to show up in a search, buried under national chains with bigger marketing budgets. Nearabout flips that: it's a map and noticeboard built specifically for what's local, what's small, and what's available right now — today's eggs, this week's veg box, a free slot at the workshop next door.
Listing is free while we grow, deliberately. We'd rather have a noticeboard full of real farms and real makers than an empty directory nobody trusts.
