Terms of Service

Last updated: 15 August 2026

These terms govern your use of Nearabout, operated by MK Labs ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account, listing a business, or otherwise using Nearabout, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

What Nearabout is

Nearabout is a noticeboard connecting shoppers with local farms, makers and independent services in the UK. We provide the platform; we are not a party to any sale or transaction between a shopper and a listed business.

Your account

You need an account to create a business listing. You're responsible for keeping your login details secure and for all activity under your account. Let us know straight away if you think your account has been compromised.

Business listings

  • You must have the right to list the business and post the content you upload.
  • Listing information (opening hours, availability, prices) must be accurate and kept up to date.
  • You're responsible for the products or services you offer, including their quality, safety, legality, and compliance with any relevant regulations — for example, food hygiene or trading standards rules.
  • We may publish, unpublish or remove a listing or offer at our discretion, including where we believe it breaches these terms or is inaccurate, misleading, or reported by other users.

You agree not to

  • Post false, misleading, or fraudulent listings or offers
  • Upload content you don't have rights to, or that infringes someone else's intellectual property
  • Use Nearabout to harass, spam, or scrape data from other users
  • Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the platform's security or operation

Content you post

You keep ownership of the content you post (business descriptions, photos, offers). By posting it, you give us a licence to display it on Nearabout, and in reasonable promotional contexts related to the platform — for example, featuring a listing on the homepage.

No guarantee of results

We don't guarantee that any listing will result in sales, enquiries, or any particular level of visibility. Nearabout is provided "as is" and we make no warranty that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Liability

We are not liable for any dispute, loss, or damage arising between a shopper and a listed business, including issues with products, services, or transactions arranged outside the platform. To the extent permitted by law, our liability to you for use of Nearabout is limited to the amount (if any) you've paid us in the 12 months before a claim arises.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for things that can't legally be limited, such as fraud or death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, with notice where reasonably possible. You can close your account at any time by contacting us.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Nearabout develops. We'll update the date at the top of this page, and tell existing users about any significant change.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
